Mary Kolada Scott

About the artist
Mary Kolada Scott is an artist and writer living in California. She was diagnosed at age 53 with advanced glaucoma and underwent several surgeries over 19 years to slow its progression.
Her eyesight has diminished but not her artistic vision. Attracted to images and language, Mary found her voice first with poetry. She later turned to art starting with representational watercolors and progressing to acrylic abstract paintings, which express a poetic language for emotions. Mary also creates mixed-media pieces and collages that blend images and words, often using phrases and lines from her poems.
She is a member of the Santa Barbara Abstract Art Collective and The Collage Lab, a group of artists who create with paper. Mary has exhibited work in galleries and shows throughout Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles counties.
Her work is available at OVA Arts Gallery in Ojai, Calif., and on her website at https://www.MaryKoladaScott.com
